You may not have heard of them yet, but there’s bound to be future Olympians among the athletes heading into London this week. The province’s largest sports event, the Ontario Summer Games, begins its first of two back-to-back runs in London on Thursday with the opening ceremonies at TD Stadium at Western University.
London gains 10 beach volleyball courts as Ontario Summer Games legacy

London just got a little more “beachy,” with the addition of 10 new beach volleyball courts – the only new thing it’s had to build to hold Ontario’s largest sports event. Located at the North London Athletics Field off of Adelaide Street, the courts will be used in next month’s Ontario Summer Games. The new courts will join four existing ones for a total of 14 at the park – along with three baseball diamonds, six soccer fields and a cricket pitch.

At first, it was only a few stones. Now it’s a large section of the wall crumbling to the ground at a London historical landmark — and heritage activists want to know why nothing has been done. There were a lot of happy tails wagging in west London on Saturday. Thousands of dog lovers and dogs gathered at the Plunkett Estate for the dog festival, Pawlooza, The events support Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) Ontario, which finds new forever homes for stray dogs and cats, and Leads Employment Services, which helps people living with disabilities find employment.

A humorous obituary, joking about "who really killed JFK" and asking for donations to the anti-Donald Trump movement, is unusual, too. But Nori Smith knew her mother was a special person and she wanted her obituary to stand out because her mother stood out.
